Different Diameters of Musical Box Discs
By Michael Pawelek

Do Different Sized Metal Music Discs Have The Same Number Of Notes?

I'm wondering why metal disc music box makers, such as Polyphon and
Regina, made so many different sized metal discs? Does the larger the
disc guarantee a song with more notes? In other words, would the same
song produced on a 10" or 12" disc contain the same amount of notes and
the same arrangement as a 15.5" disc? Thanks.

[ "Does size matter?" In general, the bigger the disc (or the wider
[ is the book music), the more notes are played, and so the sound is
[ bigger -- as is the price. Plus an added feature of a disc: a big
[ disc generally plays longer than a small disc. Size does matter!
