'Deal' Softwood & Sugar Pine

15" (inches)?  More likely 15' (feet) or around 4.5 meters!

(George Audsley, in his 1905 book, "The Art of Organ-Building", only
says about trackers that they "vary in length from a few inches to
several feet"; so 15' seems to be quite long).
