Replicating Audiographic Rolls
By J. B. Roth

Hello there, For the purpose of printing words and pictures on the
paper currently in use by David Saul [Precision Music Rolls], I would
recommend finding someone with a color laser printer that can handle
11x17 sheets of paper, then scan the original design at 300-600 dpi and
print the design onto David Saul's paper via the color laser printer.
The paper can then be trimmed and the tab can be fastened.

That would be the simplest way of doing it, however, offset printing
might last longer, though it's more expensive than a color laser,
because of color separation costs. If it's only one color, then offset
printing would be the best route. Hope that helps. Hope it wasn't too
obvious.

Regards,
J. B. Roth

[ Modern music roll paper is coated with a dry wax that repels the
[ usual ink used for offset printing. That's why Play-Rite used an
[ alcohol base ink and the stenciled words have such a watery
[ appearance. But the same wax coating works very well with a laser
[ printer because the resin toner easily melts into the wax.
