Building An Electronic Band Organ
By Bill Heverly

Recently Victor Searle mentioned that several people were able to
locate his book, "How To Build An Electronic Band Organ" [Vestal
Press, 1984], through inter-library loan. I was one of those people
who had told him about this. I am in Pennsylvania and through
"Access Pennsylvania" I was able to find that there was one of his
books in the state.

My local library attempted to borrow it and found that the only copy
was in the Philadelphia Free Library. Since it was a reference book
they would not loan it out. Phila is only two hours from here and
I really wanted to see the book, so I took an afternoon drive. The
library was very cooperative and even had the book waiting for me at
the desk in the music department; I had called ahead to make sure
they still had it. I was able to make a copy.

If you intend to do something similar, take plenty of change,
preferably quarters. The copier takes all change, possibly even dollar
coins. It does use 11x17-inch paper so that two pages may be copied at
a time for a quarter. Even with that it took twenty-five copies to get
the entire book.

The library is located at 19th and Vine Streets and there is metered
parking right on the street in front of the library. You guessed it,
the meters need change also, you get fifteen minutes for a quarter.
Take a roll of quarters with you.
