Smiling organ figures -- I have wondered the same thing, especially
when looking at historic paintings.  I suspect another reason that
people did not smile historically is bad or no dental care.  Remember
the father of our country had wooden teeth.

Anyway, you haven't seen my organ -- everyone smiles!
