Repairing a Piano Action
By Bruce Clark

I am concerned when anyone says price is "sometimes an indication
of the quality of work." No one should believe this! I have had
wonderful work done at less than 10% of what the scalpers charge,
and terrible work done by those who charge top dollar and claim to
be professional.

That also goes for the "tuner's group" too! Some are good, some
are not. The only guarantee of quality work is to do your homework.
Shop around, ask questions from those who have had similar work done.

I am reminded of having my house painted. A professional painter gave
me a price of $5,000.00. He painted the house next door and paint was
spattered everywhere -- a totally expensive mess.

I hired a college student with not too much experience to paint my
house. He did a fantastic job for $800.00. Lesson learned? I hope so!
