Mechanical Music for Teenagers
By Jim Kenney

I just wanted to make a comment on teenagers and mechanical music.
You may see one in say, five hundred, of younger people who are
interested in the music machines, but that one person may want to learn
more. If everyone had a card to hand out or a simple piece of paper
with web sites on them, such as this site or MBSI , they could get
involved.

My first time hearing a band organ had me thinking about it for a
couple of days, but over time it faded. Then I saw the organ again on
the 4th of July 1976 and was lucky to find the owner willing to let me
go with him on plays (after he asked my parents permission). I was
only 12 then.

Also, talking about the Paul Eakins' collection, "Sadie Mae" and the
giant Mortier, "The Empress", are in the Don Neilson collection, along
with Torin's Wurlitzer 164 and some of Harvey Roehl's collection as
well as the last Wurlitzer 165 in a Style 157 case. He keeps the
machines in two locations: in a large room behind his office that once
was an indoor pool, and a huge warehouse about two miles away. Both
places are a site to see.
