Unknown Tune on Musical Box Photo Album
By Richard Dutton

The tune on Kathleen Elliott's musical box photo album is just
the chorus (not the verse) of a gay '90s popular song, "The Sunshine
of Paradise Alley", words by Walter H. Ford, music by John W. Bratton,
1895.

"The Sunshine of Paradise Alley" (verse and chorus) appears on the
20-note cob roller organ as cob #1061 and on the 32-note (Grand) roller
organ as cob #2134 (paired with a similar type of song, "My Best Girl's
a New Yorker").

Bratton (1867-1947) is better remembered as the composer of the music
to "The Teddy Bears' Picnic" in 1907 while Teddy Roosevelt was in the
White House and teddy bears were the rage.

Best regards,
Richard Dutton
