Imhof & Mukle Orchestrion at Blackpool Tower
By Hans van Oost

A 30 cm [12"] vinyl record of this orchestrion was issued in the UK
by the Decca company, number ECS 2079, in 1969. I read on the sleeve:

"This orchestrion organ was constructed in 1879 by Imhof & Mukle
in Voehrenbach, Germany. It is numbered #2527 and it was purchased
for GBP 3,000 for the Blackpool Aquarium. It was moved to the tower
buildings after they were erected in 1894. Afterwards it was moved
several times until it was moved to the Birmingham museum around
1965. The recordings had to be made between midnight and 5 a.m.
because of major reconstruction works in the city, involving
  pneumatic drills and heavy lorries!"
