Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I just watched Rene Clair's
1931 film "À Nous la Liberté", a comedy/drama that concerns an escaped
convict who makes it big in the French phonograph business.  He starts
a huge factory with an assembly line à la Chaplin's "Modern Times"
(who was later sued by the producers for plagiarism, but that's another
story covered on the DVD).

Besides all the phonographs, the film soundtrack uses a small
Limonaire fairground organ (or the like) in several scenes.  They never
show the organ, but it's obviously a mechanical organ.  I believe the
arrangements were done especially for the film.  It's available on DVD.
