Cleaning Threaded Rods
By Niels Berkers

Hello all, A few months ago I asked about a way to clean the
threaded rods on the capstans of a Hupfeld Phonola that I'm working
on. I got several reactions to that (Thank you!), but the ones
I tried didn't work (copper brush, Coca Cola, etc.). Then somebody
in my family mentioned sandblasting: it wouldn't damage the wood or
the metal.

I tried this and it worked perfectly. Cleaning about four rods at
a time it took me about 30 minutes to get them all to look like new.
Thank you for your help; even though it wasn't helpful this time,
I bet it would be if I tried all the options given.

Regards,
Niels Berkers - from the rainy Netherlands
