There is an article in the May/June 2006 issue of the MBSI's
"Mechanical Music" which addresses cleaning of discs.  A product called
Evapo-Rust was used.  But I can't find it anywhere.  Has anyone else
found it or used it?  It apparently cleans the disc without removing
the writing on it.
