Repairing Broken Transmission Frame
By Joel Gauthier

Hello MMD, I was wondering if anyone can tell me the type of metal
that a transmission frame is made of? In my dismantling process,
I have broken off a piece, and I'm going to need to get it welded back
on. I don't think it's cast aluminum, but I can't be sure.

The player is a Otto Higel from 1915; if anyone wants a picture of the
break, I can provide that. Also, if anyone has any tips for materials
to use in my MIG welder to reattach it, that would be great.

Thanks,
Joel Gauthier
