Making Trumpet Pipes With Free Reeds

Trumpet reeds are beating reeds.  This means the reed tongue hits the
base of the reed.  Harmonium reeds are free reeds because the reed
tongue floats through the base.  One uses vacuum (the free reed), the
other pressure (the beating reed).
