Estey Automatic Player Pipe Organ Rolls
By Bob Taylor

I was researching Chandler Goldthwaite's involvement with the
Aeolian pipe organ rolls and found this piece of information. Rollin
Smith states in his book, "The Aeolian Pipe Organ and its Music", that
Goldthwaite was the most recorded of all roll artists and his rolls
are found on Aeolian, Estey, Moeller, Kimball, Skinner, Wurlitzer
and Austin. He further points out that his Bach Passacaglia recording
was available on Moller and Estey. Since this work doesn't exist
within the Aeolian library except as a private issue roll by Stokowski,
the argument that Estey rolls came from Aeolian seems to lose
credibility. Perhaps someone can tell us where the Estey rolls were
recorded.
