Organ Rally Semantics and Realities
By Frank and Shirley Nix

I have to weigh in on the organ rally debate. We have planned all of
them in Southern California, and far from being subsidized by the
Chamber of Commerce of any particular place, we have had to beg and
cajole for a spot. Most venues just plain don't want us, so that
furnishing lodging, food, etc. is impossible.

We have from time to time charged a minimal registration fee to cover
the cost of badges, postage, etc. I know there are places which are
willing to furnish some amenities, but not in Southern California, and
I'd venture to say not in the West for the most part.

Unless you have planned one in this area, don't criticize, and what
difference does it make whether it is "sponsored by" or "organized by"
or "planned by"? The idea is we like to bring out our organs to play
and just have fun. Don't get hung up on semantics.
