Ivory Transport & CITES Agreement
By Jim Katz

This is a potential solution for a lot of our piano shipping problems
if true and documentable. Is anyone researching piano manufacturers'
inventory purchasing documents and the like for something we can show
Customs?

Until such time we may have to continue with the various workarounds
that are available. For one cross-border shipment I took out the
action and carried that back with some lumber (on a different day
from that of the rest of the piano) and another keyboard got a fake
installation of a cover that sported plastic keytops overtop of the
real thing to avoid the issue.

The thing was unplayable but it worked just fine, as it were -- the
Agent de Douanes only wanted to see flat ugly white plastic to be
convinced.
