Mink Oil
By Andy Taylor

I believe the concept of using mink oil got started when pouch material
was sold that had been sanded down to the correct thickness. Those
pouches leaked like a sieve so, to correct this and make them somewhat
useable, mink oil was promoted as a "fix".

How mink oil treated pouches work over time, I do not know. Personally
I never used it. I have found the pouch material sold by Schaff to be
the most airtight. I have had no problems with it, in the common pedal
player.

I must agree with the purists on this one. Except for reproducers,
I do not advocate sealing the pouches with anything. If they leak that
badly, you have the wrong or inferior material. It also depends upon
what was used originally, and the size of the bleeds.

My two cents worth,
Andy Taylor
