Mink Oil
By David Zitzmann

I have read a long time ago in the Player Piano Company catalog that
mink oil can be used on pouch leather. I have never used it before and
have never heard of anyone using it.

I am a purist in that if they made something 80 years ago using product
"X", such as hot glue, and it worked -- don't change it (for multiple
reasons. :-) I use everything that they did as when they built it new.
If I have to replace wood parts, if they used maple, I use maple...

What benefit, if any, does mink oil have, and should you ever use it?

Regards,
Dave Zitzmann
