There doesn't seem to have been any correspondence concerning this
subject since June 2007.  I am wondering if anyone knows of any
advances that have been made in the intervening time.  I have downloaded
and tried trial versions of four such programs recently, but have only
found one very user-friendly, but wasn't good at interpreting the
music; one that didn't work at all, and two that were very
user-unfriendly.
