I received notification that my good friend, John Phillips, has
passed away.  I've known John for thirty years or more and have met
him mainly in Victoria and through numerous kind gestures on his part.
In my research on Australian composers and pianists, he has always
been to the fore.  I treasured his enthusiasm and kindness coupled
with his generous spirit, greatly.

I have also interests in the Duo-Art mechanism and he has helped me
greatly in this regard and has helped me on a number of technical
issues over the years.  I am sorry that he is gone but I must be
honest and say I regarded the last 12 years since his heart attack
as being valuable borrowed time.  I will miss him.
