Lead Tubing in Player Pianos
By Bruce Grimes

I'm retired now, but I remember the lead dust filtering out of
drawer-model pianos when I opened the bottom of the drawer for
servicing.

In uprights that used lead, which had the distressing habit of
turning to dust where the lead went into the wood, I replaced the
lead with Neoprene after I removed the powdered lead from the holes
in order to put in brass nipples.

I have no idea how much or what effect this might have had on me,
but thought I should share the thought.
