Smith Busker Organ at Mini Maker Faire
By Julie Porter

I took my piano roll scanner to the Benicia Mini Maker fair that was
held in Benicia today. Benicia [California] is just across the river
from where I reside. I also brought my 'Smith' busker organ. There
was a steady stream of people that passed by. I let the kids turn the
crank on the busker. This was the first exposure that many had to
mechanical music. It was fun to watch the parents explain player
pianos to their kids.

One person wanted to know if I had seen the Wintergaten Marble Music
Machine at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvUU8joBb1Q
Attachment thumbnail I had not. At first I thought when he described it that it was an animated video. It is actually a physical machine that plays part of the music dropping marbles onto the glockenspiel bars. Julie Porter
