Unusual Inside-Out Rotary Player Piano Pump
By Gordon Stelter

I thank Dave Dewey for identifying this unusual pump and motor, and his
mention of the quality of Cable products in general, which was high.
(Cable made Conover pianos, after all, designed by Richard Gertz, who
designed the Mason and Hamlin pianos of that era.)

But I wish to clear up his impression that I have or had the piano
it came from. Neither. I obtained these items from a retiring piano
technician. The pump is a bit smaller than an Ampico or Duo-Art pump,
and is utterly, visually, intriguing in operation. I cannot vouch for
its operational value if placed horizontally (though I perceive no
problem), though it would make a superb, fun to watch coin-piano
build-up pump.
