Sealing Leather With Rubber Cement
By Stephen Kent Goodman

I second what Don Teach has said about using rubber cement. It needs
to be a 50/50-percent solution. The best product I have found is
the one made by Union Rubber Inc, out of Trenton, New Jersey, the
Premium Best-Test White Rubber Paper Cement and the thinner Bestine.

Of course be sure to finish the surface with talcum powder. If you
aren't concerned with a budget you can skip this step altogether and
use the Morton Red extra-extra-thin leather from Columbia Organ
Leathers. It doesn't require sealing.
