Cheap Player Pianos
By Eric Stott

Are Midwestern pianos "poor quality"? Don Teach wrote in 161024
MMDigest:

"The oldest rule of the piano business is that the closer the piano
was made to the East Coast the better the piano. Of course there are
exceptions to the rule. Pianos from the Midwest were never respected
or known for their high quality. I know of no exceptions."

That statement is ridiculous! Anyone who owns a piano by A. B. Chase
[Ohio] will laugh in your face. I've seen fine pianos by Cable, Bush
& Gerts, Geo P. Bent, Lyon & Healy, Seeburg and Wurlitzer that will
outlast and outplay many a Steinway.
