Black Finish on Player Piano Action Parts
By Keith Gramlich

On various players (I'll use Standard as an example) there is
a gloss black finish used on most of the parts, such as spool box,
valve covers, pouch boards, air motors, etc.

How was that finish achieved in the 1920's and '30's?

Thank you!
Keith Gramlich
