Ampico B Rewind-Play Torsion Spring Subscription
By Mark Kinsler

This 'subscription' is of interest to me because the last few
mechanical clock factories are closing down. Remaining are Hermle,
Regula (for cuckoo clocks) and whoever may still make Chinese or
Korean wind-up clock movements. I don't know if any will survive
for much longer.

Thus we in the clock-repair community will have to start making
more parts than we're accustomed to. A good many generics are made
in India and/or China, but that seems precarious as well, and I'm
beginning to envision a clock-parts cooperative operation.

Has there been any thought given to a mechanical music parts co-op?
It seems to me that a CNC operation might be set up for restorers of
several varieties of smallish old mechanisms.

Mark Kinsler - totally innocent of player piano repair!
