New Buffalo Carousel Building Canalside Now Open
By Andrew Lardieri

After a zillion years (yes, I'm exaggerating a bit!) of collecting dust
and crud in the De Angelis basement, the rare 3-row Herschell Spillman
carousel (similar to the 1913 Spillman machine at Dearborn's Greenfield
Village) is fully restored and, despite Covid-19 guidelines (which are
not forever but for the time being) is now open to the general public
at Canalside at the heart of downtown Buffalo, New York's, waterfront
revitalization.

The carousel is powered by a green form of electricity, thanks to a
newly installed solar roof topping the pavilion, and it also features
a donated Wurlitzer Style 153 band organ from the Herschell Carousell
Factory Museum in North Tonowanda.

Maybe I'll visit this carousel someday once the pandemic up lets up!
