John Ravert asked about an intermittent shutoff switch [25.11.22 MMD].
Most likely it's the gasket around the spool on the left side.

You may be able to find a replacement gasket, or if you remove the
leather and smother it with Corning 111 silicon grease and return it
you may get some extra life.
