List and Ampico help needed
By Bryan Cather

Please add me to your list. My address is BSnakeC@AOL.com

[ Editor's Note: Done.

I also need some advice, and hope I can get some help.

[ Editor's Note: I submit the following to the group for advice.

I have always wanted a player piano, and about 10 years ago bought for $200.00 an unrestored Broadwood White & Co. (English) Themodist (no Metrostyle) pumper. It is in need of a complete rebuild, from the soundboard out. The tuning pins are so loose the piano is untunable (and sounds HORRID), and so it just sits there. I have been saving money for a restoration, and have about $2,000 to spend on it. I was planning on having the piano rebuilt now (about $2,000 in this area), and holding off on the player action until I can afford to have it redone as well. Well, then last week I saw an ad in the AMICA Bulletin for a restored Marque Ampico for $2,000. I rather like the idea of an Ampico pumper, as I like to "interpret" rolls, and am sure a Marque Ampico would sound better than a straight pumper (or even a Themodist piano), and, at least around here, Ampico rolls are more common than Themodist rolls. Finally, Janet Tonnesen's perforator cannot make the "snakebite" perfs (this is important, because she lives nearby). So now do I dump the Broadwood and go for the Ampico, or should I keep the Broadwood and forget the Ampico? Perhaps someone could advise me. Thanks in advance for the help.:)
