Best Vertical Reproducing Piano
By Larry Mayo

Which piano is considered to be the best Duo-Art or Ampico upright reproducing piano? Considerations are the capability of reproducing mechanism, the type and performance of the pump, and the general quality of the piano itself.

Larry Mayo

[ Editor's note:
[
[ Several years ago piano tech Randy Cox, in Anaheim, CA, produced
[ replicas of the Ampico A mechanism, which were then installed in
[ pianos of the customer's choice. The player mechanism was so
[ compact that it could even fit into a modern console piano. By
[ this method one could create a "Steinway Vertical Ampico"!
[ Would you consider this approach, Larry?
