Red Fiber Gasket Material
By Richard Vance

In answer to Damon Atchison's inquiry about red fibrous gasket
material; some instruments, especially organs, used blotting paper
for gaskets. Put a big drop of water on it; if the wet spot swells up
and becomes soft, that is what it is.

An old-fashioned office supply store, which sells replacement blotter
sheets for desk sets, can furnish the material.
