Building a New Piano Case
By Donald Dusenbury

Does the project have a keyboard? I have built cabinets in the past
and the project is involved. The sides I built were made from popular
core (4) quarter, cross banding (poplar) and veneer from Constantine's.

If the cabinet is painted use birch veneer. This requires table and
clamps which is a large investment if your shop is not equipped. I do
not recommend solid stock. It is a misconception that solid is better.
Also, plywood is always made in an odd number of layers. If you add
layers to ply stock it must be done on both sides and glued at the same
time.

QRS builds nickelodeon cases in Las Vegas and may be a source for your
project.

Thanks Don Dusenbury
