What's a Hurdy-gurdy?

One of my all-time favorite groups is Ad Vielle Que Pourra, a French
Canadian quartette that uses many different instruments (including
spoons), but leans heavily on the hurdy-gurdy sound.  Check them out

I have 'Musaique' and one of their older CDs -- highly infectious!
