Duo-Art Audiographic Rolls
By Kim Bunker

Hi all, Kim J. Bunker here from playerpianos.com. In answer to
Tom Hutchinson's quest for Audiographic rolls, these are the most
sought after rolls in the Duo-Art collections around the world.
In answer to his posted questions, yes, they do exist, yes, it was
a special series and also in our roll collection of over 25,000 rolls,
with various type of expression rolls, not one Audiographic roll in
all of our library do we have.

A couple of years ago I was seeking one of these famed sets for
a client: "My Life and My Work," a six-roll set by Igor Stravinsky,
with personal notes. This client is the former director of decorative
arts for Butterfield and Butterfield in Los Angles, one of the premiere
auction houses in the World. He said: "I want this set and am willing
to pay $3,000.00 for it."

Well, I located a set in England. After I made the offer the owner
decided to put them on eBay where they sold in three days -- not to my
client but to someone else -- for $3,870.00. Again, a six-roll set!
I also have seen one roll go for as much as $1,200.00.

The reason for these ridiculous prices is Duo-Art's painstakingly
research on every production in this Audiographic series, and in
most cases if the composer or artist was alive at the time of roll
production then Duo-Art would let them personally supervise the final
product and sign many of the rolls in production. Hence the tremendous
value of these highly collectible rolls.

So if you own any of the series you have a very collectible commodity.
Thank you for letting me share this bit of history.

Kim Bunker
