FS: 1906 Chapel Pipe Organ in Cheshire, UK
By Nigel Bailey

Help! A pipe organ is in need of a new home ASAP as building work
is going on around it. It's in a church in Haslington, a village just
outside Crewe, Cheshire (UK). The chapel authorities just don't seem
to be interested in getting it sold or given away. Apparently it was
supposed to be offered on eBay last week, but there are no listings
(that I can find) and the builder needs it out of the way.

It's nothing special; from memory: 2 manuals + pedalboard, about
8-10 stops/couplers per manual, about 8 feet by 6 feet by 10 feet tall,
give or take a foot or two. It was refurbished 15 or 20 years ago
(and several thousand was spent on it) so it should be in reasonable
condition for another lifetime.

My only connection with this organ is that it is my mum's church and
I'll be really sad if yet another perfectly good instrument ends up
in a skip or a bonfire for want of a bit of effort. If it was a bit
younger it would probably have solenoid operated pallets(?), in which
case I'd have it myself and spread it all over the house.

I'm sure a small donation would secure some volunteer labour to help
shift it. (Let's face it -- someone's going to have to do that
anyway!) I can get phone numbers of key-holders if necessary.

I'm contacting as many people as possible but time is of the essence,
and am keeping my eye on eBay but it _still_ hasn't been listed there.
I'm so cross; someone somewhere would love it.

[ We usually don't run articles about manually played instruments.
[ However one of the most stunning self-playing instruments I've ever
[ heard was an 8-rank organ that was voiced as a 'theater organ' and
 [ was played by computer.
 [
[ This chapel organ should also be advertised to the theater organ crowd,
[ Robbie will send you some contact information. Good luck finding
 [ an interested party.
