Reproducing Pianos Owned by Royalty
By Terry Leonard

The recent articles on "royal" Duo-Art pianos prompts me to ask where
some Duo-Art rolls I have may have come from. They are the English
illustrated ones in superb boxes, dark green imitation crocodile
leather with gold lettering and lined in silk. The printing and
illustrations on the rolls are a cut above the usual rolls of this
type; the rolls and boxes are in exceptional condition for their age,
so they have not had much use.

Perhaps they were specially produced for a royal personage. Another
idea of mine is that they were made for the Directors of the Aeolian
company.

At the end of the day, it is the music that counts and the instrument
you have to play the rolls. However, it would be nice to know why
these rolls were made and for whom.
