Hupfeld Phonola Rolls
By John Phillips

Hi everybody. On reading Wayne Stahnke's note about scanning a 73-note
roll to convert the music to 88-note format I thought "That piece of
music sounds familiar". Last night I had a look at my Brahms rolls and
there was Hupfeld 88n roll no.51757 "Akademische Festouverture, op.
80." played by Weiss and Stefaniai. The roll and the box have Hupfeld
labels but the roll leader is an Animatic one, which is a bit unusual.
There is no date watermarked into the paper. The roll has theme
perforations like most Hupfeld rolls.

The roll looks in pretty good shape (it's ages since I played it). If
Wayne or any interested party to Wayne's project wants to borrow it for
scanning or for comparison they are welcome.
