Encoding and Decoding Programs for PC
By Claus Kucher

Hi Robbie, In Mechanical Music Digest 96.12.15 you asked about stand-alone
encoding & decoding programs for the Mac and PC. Here is the "PC" answer:

For Windows you can use this freeware from from Snappy Inc:

  "Wincode - Multipurpose Encoder/Decoder", version v.2.6
  For questions e-mail to "George.Silva@wadsworth.org"

As a good DOS-program there is:

  NewsUUD v1.25 (c) 11/1993 by Andreas Krebs,
  Email: s_krebs@iravcl.ira.uka.de or uk13@rz.uni-karlsruhe.de
  Usage: NewsUUD infile ... [infile]

In rare cases (if the programs above do not work) I try to match the
decoding procedure with a bunch of programs e.g.
•
  UNSTUFIT.EXE UUENCODE.EXE
  UNPACKIT.EXE UUDECODE.EXE
  UNSTUFF.EXE UUDEVIEW.EXE
  DECOMP.EXE
•
If you need and cannot find some programs in popular shareware or other
ftp-areas I can send them as e-mail attachment.

Happy Holidays -- Servus!
