This is very true. In fact we are using parts of a non-functioning Welte
Vorsetzer!  Our main idea is that we have to use a similar piano and
similar recording environment that was used during the recording session.
It is well known that the acoustic feedback influences the pianist, thus
the details of the performance (especially sustain times) are correct only
within the specific acoustic environment.  By using a push-up player we
can use the same make and model pianos that were played in the Welte
studios, without having to modify an expensive piano.
