I've been really busy this summer, so I was surprised when I arrived in
Sarasota Monday and found that Bellm's had been sold.  The new owners are
renovating and the museum is still open.  The car collection is down to
40 cars or so and I was sad to see that the Music Hall had fewer instru-
ments than I had expected.  Still, a big dance organ ('Pinky') is cranking
out tunes despite its need for repairs, and the Arburo still sounds great
for 25 cents.

A lady named Marion took a small tour through the hall -- she really knew
her instruments!  There were two other street organs that were not
functioning.  I don't know if they were due for renovation or if they
were just there for looks.  They seemed to be intact, but probably needed
to be reworked.

I noticed that all of the musical instruments had price tags on them, but
I didn't dare ask; if they were actually for sale ... well, let's just say
my wife would have her lawyer call me to explain why she had packed her
bags and moved out!

Now that I'm home, I think I'll call Bellm's and ask what's up with the
renovations and the destiny of the Music Hall.  Probably more to come!
