Plating and Tuning Wurlitzer Bells
By Craig Wiley

I'm planning to have a set of bell bars from a 1919 Wurlitzer 153
replated and tuned. I'm curious: should they be tuned pure, or with
a bit of temperament? I've searched the MMD Archives regarding the
subject and can't seem to find any information.

Many thanks!

[ A Style 150 instrument deserves a "just" tuning of some sort. See,
 [ for example:
[ Fritz Gellerman: Band Organ Tuning with de Caus "just" temperament

[ Werckmeister Temperament for Tuning Band Organs

 [
[ The organ should first be tuned using whatever temperament sounds best,
[ and then tune the bells to match the pipes. Caution: the organ's pitch
[ varies with air density, the bells' pitch doesn't! -- Robbie
