How to Build a Custom Music Box
By Hauke Marxsen

Re: Digest 98-10-07

Hello Thomas!

Your article in the Digest from the 7th of Oct has absorbed me.
A fantastic project. It inspired me to think about an alternative
for choosing the right comb.

I would try to choose a bigger movement, maybe a movement with a
36- or 50-tooth-comb. I would throw away the comb and would buy
one which is used in a Thorens/Reuge 4.5" disc movement. It has
30 teeth and is 4 cm wide. It should offer a universal balance
of notes. A comb like that should match the notes you need and is
available on the market (Nancy Frati for example).

I wouldn't say only bye bye; in this case I will use the antiquated
expression:

Yours respectfully Hauke Marxsen
