Apollophone Roll & Record Set
By Dave Smith

Hello Fellow MMD'ers, Wondering if anyone can enlighten me about the
piano rolls and accompanying records that were made for the Apollophone
combination player piano and phonograph.

We presently have an Apollophone piano and it can be seen on our web
site at http://home.mkl.com/~outback/ (excuse the plug here, but we
just recently got it running, please check it out).

Recently, Sam Harris pointed out three Apollophone rolls being offered
on eBay which we won the bidding at $49.00! Thanks Sam!

I have played the rolls on a regular 88-note piano thinking that
there must be a "cue" to start the record but there is no mention of
the record, other than on the roll label. Has anyone ever heard the
phonograph and player piano being played? The Apollo player uses a
spring wind motor to drive the roll and the phonograph uses its own
spring wind motor; both tempo adjustments are easily accessible, but
I can't imagine trying to keep the two in unison.

Would love to hear from anyone who knows anything about these arrange-
ments and would especially like to hear from someone who actually heard
them being played.

Thanks,
Dave Smith
