Vacuum Cleaner vs. Tracker Bar Pump
By Spencer Chase

I measured the suction of a couple of my vacuum cleaners. My old
Electrolux Model G pulls 60" with the hose completely blocked off.
Of course it would overheat quickly, running this way. My shop vac
(an older industrial model) pulls 74" under the same conditions.
Obviously new vacuums are not as strong. Maybe the other figures
were not accurate. Mine were measured with a very accurate gauge.

It seems clear that there is little chance for damage with these
sources of suction as I was able to pull well over 120" with my tracker
bar pump. Of course the volume is limited and the pump will be working
on more than one pouch at a time so it will be reduced.

It seems clear to me that the correct tool is the tracker bar pump.
They have been working well for 80 years or more. The available
vacuum cleaners today are getting worse, in addition.
