Painted Green Welte Roll
By Hal Davis

Some years ago there was a fellow that bugged me for years to let him
have a Green Welte roll. I finally managed to shut him up.

My wife took some green vegetable dye and made up a spray solution and
I took it out to the shop and opened up a Welte roll that I had that
wasn't of any value to me. I hung that roll over some of the ceiling
joists and sprayed that roll until it was a pleasant shade of green.
Over the next few days it dried out quite nicely and when it was wound
up and put back into the box it looked pretty decent.

The next time he came over I told him I had a surprise for him, and
I handed him the "green" roll. When he left he had as big a smile
as you could have asked for, especially because I didn't charge him
anything for the roll.

Three or four years later I discovered, through a friend, that the guy
didn't have a piano to play the roll on, and he just wanted to see if
I could find one.
