In response to Jerry Vitale's mention of Shapeways, I can confirm
that they are at the forefront of retail additive manufacturing, and
have been for many years.

The printed stainless steel, in particular, is worth a serious look.
I have observed the finished product and it is amazingly faithful to
the solid model provided to them.  The final product is 100 kpsi SS,
which is crazy strong; compare it with aircraft-grade steel at 125
kpsi.
