"In The Baggage Coach Ahead" on QRS Roll
By Howard Wyman

In my roll collection I have QRS Roll no. 2574 titled, "In The Baggage
Coach Ahead". According to the label the words and music are by Gussie
L. Davis, copyright Richmond-Robbins, 1924. The words begin, "It was a
dark stormy night". The story tells of a young man on the train
holding a baby. The baby starts crying and when the other passengers
complain, one woman ask where the baby's mother is and why doesn't the
young man take the baby to her. Her replies that she is in the coach
ahead, dead.

This type of tearjerker seemed to be popular many years ago.
