Hi Group,  Meta Brown asked about a Gordon Orchestral Grand Player
Piano.  The "Presto Buyer's Guide 1926" says:

  "The Gordon Piano Co. was established in 1845 by S. T. Gordon, and
continued by his son Hamilton S. Gordon, until bought by the present
company, by which the quality of the instruments is being sustained
and even improved.  Both pianos and player-pianos are superior in
construction and tone.  They are instrument of the kind that meet the
approval of the majority of the piano world of music by their careful
construction, fine appearance and tonal results.  As an evidence of
this it is enough to say that more than seventy thousand of the Gordon
pianos and player-pianos are now in use.  Factory and office 709-713
Whitlock Ave., New York City."

The "Pierce Piano Atlas 10th Edition" has many Gordon listings:

  Gordon & Company; Gordon, Hamilton S.; Gordon Piano Co.;
  Gordon, S. T. & Son; Gordon & Slater; Gordon & Sons;
  Gordon, Stephen Co.

The listing for Gordon & Sons says: "By Kohler & Campbell, same as
Kohler & Campbell from 1927, grand same as Brambach New York."  This is
the only listing with serial number information.  For 40005 the year of
manufacture would be early 1915.  1915 starts with number 40000.

The Player Piano Co., Inc. 1983-85 catalog says that Gordon & Son
player pianos used both the Standard action and Pratt-Read action.
